A new Australian study found that many older doctors are out of touch with the needs of today‚Äôs patients. The study looked at 13,000 notifications. It found that older doctors had 40% more conduct complaints. “Many older doctors are caught up in the old way of thinking. They tell patients what to do instead of listening to them,” says patient experience expert Shelley Thomson. “But patients today want to be actively involved in their healthcare, so when doctors don’t listen to them it can lead to conflicts and complaints.”
